The 53rd Edition of the India International Knit Fair (IIKF) was successfully organized by the India Knit Fair Association (IKFA) under the aegis of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (sponsored by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India) from 16th to 18th September 2026 at the IKF Complex, Tirupur. This edition focused on the central theme is “The Future of Fashion through MMF, Innovation and Sustainability”.
The fair was inaugurated by Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman- AEPC & IKFA in the august presence of Shri K.M. Subramaniam, President, TEA, Shri V. Elangovan, President, ABAT, members of AEPC/TEA, IKFA Committee Members, Managing Committee Members of ABAT, BAA, BSL, NIFTA, as well as buyers, buying agents, exhibitors and trade members.
Profile of Exhibits
Around 50 leading exporters from Tirupur, Coimbatore, Erode, Karur, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Mohali, Noida, Ludhiana and other major textile clusters participated in the fair, showcasing a wide range of garments. Exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the response, stating that they received several promising enquiries, along with some spot orders.
The 53rd IIKF highlighted Sustainable Apparel/Man Made fabric and garments including garments made from recycled PET, recycled cotton, tiger cotton, fair trade cotton, cotton/Kapak, linen, Flex, organic cotton, wool, bamboo, viscose, 100% Polyester, Modal, polyester blends, tri-blends, cotton silk blend and fancy yarns, recycled OE, Exhibits covered product categories across infants, kids, boys, girls, men and women, along with flat knit garments fully fashion garments Natural dyed garments, tie-dye garments, liquid finish garments, sublimation printed garments, and other eco-friendly innovations.

Brainstorming Session, Exporters Meet & Stall Awards
On the first day (16th September 2026), the Brainstorming session, Exporters’ Meet and Stall award ceremony was held. The function was presided over by Dr.A. Sakthivel Chairman AEPC & IKFA and Shri K.M. Subramaniam, President, TEA, who distributed awards and appreciation certificates to the winners and also commended buyers and sourcing consultants for their valuable contribution to the industry.

This fair also comes at a significant time, coinciding with the ongoing developments towards the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is expected to come into effect in early 2027. India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements with 11 countries, notably including the landmark India–United Kingdom FTA, has generated considerable optimism among exporters and international buyers.
In anticipation of the upcoming India–EU FTA, buyers and buying houses have shown increased interest in this fair, recognizing the immense potential for enhanced trade opportunities with the European Union.
Once the India–EU FTA comes into effect, it is expected to provide a significant boost to the apparel and textile industry, paving the way for expanded exports, stronger business partnerships, and substantial growth in trade with the European Union. These developments will further strengthen India’s position as a preferred sourcing destination in the global apparel market.

The fair witnessed participation from around 175 leading buyers and sourcing consultants, who expressed appreciation for the quality of exhibits and collections displayed.
